About Darci Whitehorne, PT, E-RYT

After falling in love with physical therapy in high school, I knew I wanted to make a career out of helping people. I received both my Bachelor’s in Health Studies and Master’s in Physical Therapy from Boston University. After working in a hospital with inpatient rehabilitation for the first two years of my career, I transitioned to out-patient rehabilitation and physical therapy care. I am excited to specialize in orthopedic and neurological physical therapy, posture restoration, manual and mechanical physical therapy, sports therapy, and yoga.

As someone who loves to learn, I am always striving to figure out how I can better help my patients. Some of the biggest turning points for my practice have been finding active-release techniques and soft tissue mobilization as well as yoga. After finding out that I had to give up being a competitive triathlete due to an unexpected heart condition, I knew I had to find another way to keep physical movement in my life, and that’s how I found yoga.

After my first yoga class, I was hooked and knew I was going to study and train to be a certified yoga teacher. Not only did I love how I felt after each class, I quickly realized how much yoga ties into movement-based physical therapy. One informs the other!

I was born and raised in Vermont, and now I’m incredibly proud to be raising my family here. That’s why I love making a difference in the people of Rutland’s lives. I cherish every opportunity to help my patients better understand their bodies and recognize that they have control over helping themselves. I understand that sometimes when you’re injured, things can feel really out of control. The connection I’m able to create with my patients and the positive impact I have on their lives is something I could never give up.

In my free time, I love dedicating my time to things that keep me in the present. My family, friends, daughter, and two dogs keep me grounded. Outside of my work day, my passions include yoga, riding my bike, rug hooking, sketching, and making jewelry.

If you’re looking for a physical therapist who truly values connection and understands the human body and what it takes to live a pain-free life, I invite you to reserve a no-obligation free consultation with me. Consultations are available in person and via tele-medicine.
